Hi all
I have been a long time iburst user as my area doesnt have adsl lines (cable theft). I have had a 1mb modem for over 2 yrs. I have used it for many many games and usually averaged about 320ms which was fine and playable. On speed test I would get between 0.4mb and 0.7mb.
I have since upgraded and gotten a 2mb line. I am running it through a wireless router (a tenda). I have installed the firmware 3 times and its definately installed and fine. I get between 0.7mb and 1.3mb on speed test. If I download anything I get between 50kbs and 180kbs which is pretty decent.
Anyway.... The 2mb line is definately an improvement in speed so far, there is just one problem. When I play my usual games my ms spikes up to 450-550 and makes the game unplayable. It is worse and more unstable then my old 1mb modem.
The 2mb is setup exactly the same as my 1mb was. Same position so same signal same router everything. i have installed the firmware. Why is does my 2mb spike so badly but get better overall speed? Is the 2mb just more unstable?
I have since ordered a splitter which I will get next week and will connect my old 1mb antenna to this and see if somehow that makes it more stable.
If anyone has any ideas/advice/tips on how to make the 2mb more stable for gaming then please let me know.
