For the last few months, my line have been more unstable than ever. A connection doesn't even last longer than 2hours any more before it drops.

What can cause this and anyway this can be resolved - I know Telkom CAN, but will they actually make effort?

My line stats:

Downstream / Upstream

SNR Margin
:15.5 / 11.7 db
Line Attenuation
:35.0 / 21.3 db
Data Rate
: 4096 / 511 kbps

I had issues like your for 2 weeks..my SNR DL will start of at 20dB and then drop till under 12 and the line losses sync..finally a telkom techy came out...at first we could find the problem. He says, the moment your line drops below 12dB, the 4MB line will lose sync. Well long story short, he replaced the cable from my home to the pole same prob. Then he switched me to another "line/pair" on the main cable and bam...problem resolved!! My line is even better than before, takes less than 6 sec to sync....

I've been battling for more than 2 years to get ANY help from Telscum on exactly the same issue. They refuse to help me. My line used to be 4mbit with great performance and now is down to less than 2mbit.

Interesting....

I mean, it is so annoying when the thing drops especially when I'm in a game.

What did you report the line fault as, before they came and fixed it?

Get them to drop your line to 3072.

Actually my line did something weird a few weeks ago. It resynchronised at exactly 3932k (weird) and it was stable for days until Eskom happened.

Not very keen to have my line as low as 3072k, especially if the problem lies with Telkom and they actually can fix it.
