My current issue is that my Fibre line drops for about 1-3 minutes at a time on both LAN and WIFI, a few times a day. It doesn't happen predictably. New Router was installed as VUMA had issues to reconfigure it and now it is worse such that in an hours it would drop every 15min which is rather frustrating as I WFH.
Today alone since 8am its been dropping continously and only 3 devices(PC, laptop and 1 mobile phone) are connected and non are streaming.
Some days it doesn't happen at all, and on others, it happens multiple times in an hour. It's not the end of the world, because it's just a few minutes, but This issue has been going on for months now with no constructive feedback from Afrihost or VUMA.
For the past few days its been happening a lot from 6-9pm a lot but this morning it is worse.
I took screen shot of Ping Plotter and send it through to Afrihost with no useful feedback.

Hi,

I have disputed the ticket.

I also re-mapped you now but I still think the issue is with the physical line that is dropping the sessions.

Please can you reboot and see if the issue is still ongoing?

Halo

Unfortunately the line dropping started again after 30min after you reset/ Re-map the line such that it kept on dropping every 10min and forced me to switch to hotspot on my mobile phone in order to work.

Surely this is not normal as VUMA and Afrihost need to investigate and fix my line so that i can have stable internet.

What area are you in? Does the light go off on the ONT?

Link that I monitor thats on Vuma/Afrihost has been up since 17th without any drops. I went through a stretch where Joburg water was digging up the fibre on a regular basis.

Hi

Pretoria- Sosha
All lights on the ONT remain ON-green then the WLAN light stops flashing and the light is permanently stable for those minutes while the internet-session drops. Then it will start flashing again once internet access is back online.

It doesn't look like the sessions or the line drops at all that is what is making the issue difficult to diagnose and fix.

Is the router not rebooting? What does the uptime on the management interface say?
The router does not restart. All devices remain connected to the router and the status would be no internet access for that brief moment when the internet drops.
Only management i am using to access the router is IP: 192.168.18.1 which gives me information about devices connected to the router of their uptime but not for the router itself.

Is there maybe another way i can be able to access the router with an APP maybe that works for this particular router-Huawei Echolife EG8141A5.

When you detect that the Internet is down does the ping to 192.168.18.1 also fail?? What are the other devices? No rogue dhcp server?

I'm not familiar with your router
Will ping the router the when the internet connection drops and also test to see if i can access and log into the router.
No Rogue server.

Today the internet has been working Flawlessly with no issues since 6am.
It has not dropped or disconnected.

So it could be the router itself, maybe a setting?

Best bet is ping something external like 1.1.1.1 constantly and the Router IP itself as well.

Very quickly figure out where things are going wrong doing that.

Had the same issue a while back, on 4 different lines all using the Huawei echolife ONT. A line reprovision seems to fix it.
