I've been watching my tcpIQ tests, and I noticed something wierd: Up is almost the same speed as down.

There are to my mind a few possibilities here, considering that I get single-thread downloads at up to 70KB/s and multi-threaded downloads at up to 100+KB/s.

  1. iBurst is shooting themselves in the foot by blocking/throttling access to this site (highly unlikely)
  2. The test is single thread based, and not a true reflection of attainable speeds
  3. Something else I haven't thought of - perhaps you can help

I get amazing speeds while playing games, downloading, etc. but when it comes to broadband tests it just doesn't reflect. Why??

I get similar results. It's mostly due to single threads versus multithreads. But also TCPIQ is one of the slowest speed tests out there, don't know why. Seen a few complaints from ADSL 4096k users who are only getting <500k on TCPIQ.

I got very good results from speedtest.net, like >850k on one test. I wonder whether they use simultaneous downloads for testing.

Perhaps rpm should be looking at other tests then. It's certainly in Telskum's favour for something like this to stay on the board.

Oh, so this is why Iburst get in at around 167kb on all the MyADSL speed tests.

It really doesnt make sense, I can also get good speeds on some internatioan speed test, and THOSE speeds are the true reflection of my speeds. Well, I guess it'll have to be, unless RPM decides to change it. Its probably just that TCPIQ is one of the only tests that can run automatically over a period of time, giving a good average score.
