I recently posted this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/571199-Sold-my-car-looking-at-buying-another-and-feeling-a-bit-overwhelmed?highlight=
And asked for some help, after a lot of feedback I decided to take some days off and go to Pretoria to look at cars.
After looking online it seemed to me like it would work me out cheaper to buy a car there, drive it back here and license it here rather than buying one in this KZN area.
Unless I would have been lucky enough to find a good deal here, which never happened.
So in the end this is what I got:
2010 Hyundai Getz 1.4 with 90000km on the clock. Took it to Dekra and got a full inspection done. They found nothing wrong with it, except for small cracks on the windshield and bonnet from rocks. (The front bumper also has some spots but it's plastic so I'm not worried about rust there)
Ended up paying R65 000 for it. Had the cam belt replaced and had a major service on it done for R3200 and then got new wipers installed and some other basic check ups done. Front tires are brand new, however the rear tires are still the originals (with 90 000km on them :wtf: ) So they need to be replaced soon.
Checked the boot and the original spare is still there, it's never been used. Same with the jack and other tools.
Yesterday I drove the car back, and from Pretoria to PMB it used 3/4 of a full tank. Which I think isn't too bad, after setting the trip it showed the distance to be 520km.
So thank you guys, for all the feedback!
Thanks to you I had a much better idea of what I wanted / needed. And in the end I feel like I got a good deal.
