I have KiS2009, I'd like to know whether I can update the app via a local proxy and thus using my local bandwidth for it's updating.

I'm not sure you can do it with 2009. There is a setting for South Africa on 2010 as well as a proxy server option, though I haven't checked if these work. Check if you can upgrade.

I had 2010 but reinstalled and did fell like upgrading again

I had a license to KAV (can't remember version) last year and my updates used to run through local bandwidth by making use of the Akamai CDN which Kaspersky was using. I'm not sure whether they're still doing this but I'd suggest posting on their forum - they were always quick to provide support there.

Otherwise if all else fails, you can use an app like Freecap

I have used it to update most of my software that i use that couldnt be updated over local.

Simply install it, configure with your proxy address and then add the application, run it from within the software.

Tip:
I have been using it with Grabit (since native support isnt on the latest for proxies) and it crashes (Grabit) when closing it, i haven't seen any problems after this happens. Simply restart Grabit and alls well.

Any problems just let us know here :)

Enjoy

well, thats the thing, I can add a proxy address to KiS2009 but I dont know the details of any local proxies. I need : the address and port number if possible.
