Upgrade apps iOS

So I have abit of a silly question, say an App that took around 1GB to Download has an update, when you go to the App Store and upgrade it does it redownload the whole 1GB again? Just the newer version of it? Or does it just download the data for the upgrade and adds it? Will I be using 1GB at a time to upgrade this app?

If you go into the App store and click on the icon instead of the "Update" button, you'll see the size of the updated version. I haven't seen any get smaller

Yes it does. The option belongs to the Developer - but they can choose to enable the phone only to download the updated pieces of the app. So no - a 1gb app doesn't use 1gb of data after every update.
