Sooo its that dreaded time of year, where a simple decision can turn my life into a subsequent nightmare... :(

I'm due for an Upgrade on the 15th however I haven't a clue what phone to get.

I'm looking at a phone which has FREE GPS for life without me having to pay a monthly.

I'd also like a phone that will let me use MSN Messenger or something similar online ie. I need to get in touch with my MSN Live Messenger contacts.

I dont really care about Cameras, MP3 ringtones etc.

I guess what I'd like to know is what are some of the differences / software differences between a Symbian Phone & Windows Mobile phone?

I've been told that you can get just about any App for a Symbian phone, that a Windows Mobile phone may have...

I've been looking at the Samsung Omnia, with that in mind is their offer of Free GPS Subscriber / Contract dependant? I tried asking the good folk at Vodacom, but I don't think they understood what I was trying to ask... :(

I've also been with Vodacom since their inception & am considering making a move to MTN since they seem to have better contracts, am I making a wise move?

I'm very happy with my E71 only negative is the lousy camera.

+1...E71 is perfect, msn and GPS nice with email's (in my opinion better at this than the blackberry) and a nice mature operating system. if u want to hang in there u can wait for the n97..which is going to be crazy...but E71 is in my opinion the best phone out there. Windows mobile phones will leave u disappointed(if u ever expected anything) and the i phone is just not business enough (but suppose nice for mulitimedia)

and for symbian there is cracked garmin software, but its really not that expensive to buy (or u can just use Google maps)

I would say go with Win mobile, symbian is so last year ;)

I would have a look at the HTC range if that falls into your budget. The Touch Diamond / pro are really nice. Or take a look at the SE Xperia, also a nice looking phone.

As far as apps go, you can get any app for win mobile phones, there are tons of apps out there. Some you have to pay for obviously, but there is no shortage of apps.

I would highly recommend moving to Mtn, you will get a much better deal on a contract with them. Vodascum are total rid offs and it is actually sickening what the pay ins are for their phones.

Some questions to know more or less what you require:

What phone are you using at the moment?
How much do you want to spend every month?
What do you use your phone for, business, pleasure or both?

haha win mobile is utter dog..its slower..its the out dated one. symbian 60v5 thats on the n97 whips its ass four love, and Android once mature will p-own it...who wants to use a start menu on a phone in the first place? its like bolting a sleeper to your bicycle.

had an HTC titan 2 for like two months till I traded it for an e90. Hated every second of it..but whatever try what u want but believe me that Symbian, once u get used to it is awesome and quite powerful. I also believe it to be the MO with the most Aps currently out..not sure. But its wicked.
