So I currently have the following:-

Q6600 with stock cooler
4GB ddr2 Ram
Some Intel board that can't overclock
3850 512MB Graphics Card
OCZ vertez 3 120GB
Random cheap case that has a fair amount of room
Some Cosair 500watts PSU but 1 fan's stopped working and its 5 or so years old

My plan is to upgrade in two phases.

Phase 1 - now - ~ R3720 - R4220
Antec HCG 520w ~R720
cm 690 ii advanced ~R1000
6870 or 560 ti ~R2000-R2500

Phase 2 - 2-3 months - R4600
Asus P8Z68-V R1600
2500k R2000
Either a cooler master hyper 212 plus or a antec kühler h2o 620 R320 - R600
8GB of whatever RAM ~R400

Mostly to be used for developing and some light gaming! Oh and I have enough storage so no additional hard-drives are needed.

My main concern is should I wait on the Graphics card and get a 6xx when they come out and rather just buy the case, cooler and PSU first now

Then I might end up getting an ivy bridge CPU+MB and a 6xx card in say 2-3months if they're out, otherwise the above.

Arrg dunno if I'm making sense! Doh

For light gaming, don't wait. The 600 series is going to be relatively expensive compared to 500 series with the same performance at first.
About the RAM. For a Z68 mobo take the 1866hz sticks.
You can get a Antec VP650P 650w powersupply with lot's of amps for about the same price as that HCG.

I was under the impression Ram speed made almost no difference with SB at most 1600Mhz after that there's barely any noticeable difference?

With the PSU I'd rather go with the 5 year warranty and the 80plus bronze rating of the HCG, doubt I'd ever use 650w.Don't think I'll ever have more than 1 gpu

That's true. Really not much in it.
Read somewhere that the you'll get a 2fps improvement between a 2133 and 1333Mhz. That's not a lot.
But for hardcore gamers every single FPS count:-)

5 years is an excellent warranty.
