Upgrade time

I'm in the market for upgrading my current PC and need a bit of advice since I haven't been in the know for a couple of years now.

Current CPU is E6600, what would be the best bet for upgrade, looking at spending around R1500-00 for the CPU.

What would your suggestions be?
