Upgrade time

Hi Guys

So it's time for me to upgrade and I'm not up to date with the latest handsets and new ones coming out, the only one I'm familiar with is the S3.
I currently have a HTC Desirte HD, fell a couple of months ago got it fixed fell again and now neither the camera nor the gps is working and it switches off with the smallest bump. So I would like to get a new phone asap.

I want to stay with Andoid and want the best performing Andoid phone currently on the SA market on contract, if there is any new phone that will be releasing in the near future please let me know and whether it is worth to wait for it.

I also want to move from MTN over to Vodacom so if anyone can give me advice on how to do this, it will be appreciated.
 
Yes I've heard about CellC & 8ta:p
I have my 3G with CellC and I've tried 8ta as well. I like to stay with the tried and tested. From what I've heard from colleagues, I rather want to stay away from them. I've never had problems with MTN (luckily) in the eight years that I've been with them but the contracts they offer are just not catering for what I need.

Never checked out this phone myself - but seems impressive.
But I've been personally turned off Sony since the inception of the first Xperia.
Also, iirc, there support and updates for their devices are not the best here ( I stand to be corrected)

Pity that it doesn't come out with JB and is still on ICS though.

OP: I usually just glance over at GSMArena for the Pro's and Con's on handsets, along with the "Final Words" page.
If I'm not detracted by anything there, I'll go and read through the rest of the review and take it from there.

If you're going on contract - then the Nexus 4 is not a consideration.
Other flagships to consider: HTC OneX, SGS3 and whatever else is out there :D
 
Thanks for the replies. I also usually look through gsmarena. Currently it's between the One X the S3 and the Sony. Only thing that I don't like about the OneX is that it doesn't have a SD slot. The S3 looks like a winner with very little wrong with the phone and the Sony also compares well...

Is there any new phones coming out in the next two to three months? I read somewhere that HTC will be holding an event sometime in Nov so maybe there might be a new phone?

The S3 looks way too feminine to me. But if that's fine with you, there are plenty reports of the cpu in the s3 overheating and downclocking itself.

So go for the S3 if you're fine with that.
 
im in exactly well almost exactly the same boat as the op have a Desire HD and its time to upgrade,
been looking at a few phones top of the list is S3, HTC one X, and the LG Optimus and now that
i've seen it the Xperia .... Sigh cut off date to order new phone is end of dec - early jan, but im
torn ... just cant make up my mind.

I have a Desire HD if that helps. If I had to get a phone now it'd be the Xperia T. Have two friends with the Xperia S and even that makes me jealous.
