Is it possible to upgrade your contract to a new number, converting your existing number to prepaid?

I've had my existing number for many years, and because of that - many companies have it, and many people.

My contract is eligible for upgrade next month, but I'd rather convert this number to prepaid, and get a new number under the contract - anyone done this?

If you are on a normal contract (not top up) then we can do a number change for you and you can choose your number. R250.00 fee once off for that and it gets charged to the account. The number you changing from though will be lost.

Ah - great, thanks - can't loose the number I'm on, guess I'll just wait it out and convert to prepaid.

You could do that yes, and then once contract is done, take out a new contract with a new number, and then convert the existing number to prepaid. Dont convert to prepaid before hand, else you have to reaply for a Vodacom with supporting docs.

Think I might do a new contract in September already - so my wife can get a new phone, and then convert to prepaid when this one is done in Novenber....

VodacomData was able to get a contract and a pre-paid number swapped on the system. You'll need to find someone with the right access to the system to be able to do it.

Interesting - thanks - I'll look into, not a major issue if it can't done, its more of a convience thing.
