Hi guys and gals,

I am planning on getting a HD PVR to replace my SD PVR. I phoned a few places to find out what I need (apart from the HD Decoder) and got a lot of different replies from different places.

Multichoice and a few installation guys say I only need the HD pvr, my cables should be sorted as I have a SD PVR with duelview

Other guys say I will need a new dish and another cable.

I currently have duelview + recording, but does not use it at all. On the new decoder all I want is HD, don't care about the recording.

Did anyone here upgrade to HD PVR from SD PVR?

If you are getting the 2 tuner Pace 2P HDPVR then you are good to go. 2 cables that went from dish to SDPVR simply go into the HDPVR

If you get a 4 tuner version which by the sounds of it you are not then you would need a multiswitch to split the 2 cables into 4

Bigger dish is recommended but not a requirement unless you have a lot of bad weather

Thanks, yes, I will only get the 2 tuner version. Looks like I'm ready to plug it in then. Thanks again

I hope your realise that u lose dual view functionality with just having an hdpvr. Why not xtraview your sdpvr with a hdpvr addition ?

Also if you use the two tuner pace and want to link the old decoder up to the new HD one you will need a multi-switch bare in mind
this is only if you need xtra-view to function other wise you are good to go

Where do you get these multi-switches from and are they easy to install?
