OK so it is almost time to upgrade, Next month actually so still have a little bit of time to look into it. What do you guys recommend. I really like the look of the BlackBerry Torch 9810, I think but I am open to suggestions. Please help. I am on the MTN Any Time 100 but I will probably upgrade to the R200 airtime

Well, first question would be - what do you want to use you phone for? Just phone and SMS / IM? Email? Browsing? Music?

Music, IM. a few friends and family overseas have BB so the BB wpould make sense. Would be mainly for texting, or smsing , and the internet.

Don't pay too much attention to BBM - most people I know have switched over to whatsapp anyway since it's not limited to BB users, so you can chat to more friends. I'm a big Android fan (for various reasons), so I'd suggest you look at a mid-range android phone. Samsung, HTC and Motorola all have really nice devices on the market.

The thing is you have to pay for that after a year. Most of my friends are on BBM now as well and they give up on whatsapp after a year.

Ja but also need unlimited internet access as I might be moving away from home this year so I wont have the internet and downloading stuff chews data

There are many nice Android phones to choose from. And it is a tough choice.
I'm keen on the Samsung Galaxy SII. But I also like the iPhone 4s.
In your case, however, Blackberry seems to be your best bet, thanks to the BIS.

You can get quite a bit of data for R60pm (the BIS fee) now a days, especially if you buy R120 every second month.

Ja I will need it for internet, if I move

My wife and I both upgraded to Samsung Galaxy S II yesterday.
We had both been die-hard Nokia fans, having had Nokia's basically since cellphones were introduced to South Africa.
After playing around with my phone last night and today, I won't easily get anything else again.

I don't know what MTN fee structure is like, but I took a 100meg data bundle @R50-00 per month on my Business Call 400 from CellC.
I have WiFi at home, so the 100Meg is only for incidental connections and downloading.
