Upgrade with MTN

I am due for an upgrade end of June, but can today already with MTN direct. Black friday is only November , and I hear there will be no wild specials. I am thinking between a Huawei wave and Samsung A5, but think about the A5 as it is slightly water proof. I am not a big data user, 2Gigs is more than enough for me.

If I'm not mistaken, MTN sim only contracts can be cancelled with a month's notice and no penalty for remaining months. Can someone from MTN confirm?
