Upgradeable Graphics Cards

Hey guys, ive come across something interesting while browsing toms hardware the other day. Chek this out. Upgradeable graphics cards. It could potensially save ppl lots of money. Chek it out here Looks like a cool and good idea.

I guess this was the natural progression of things, what with gfx card specs starting to match those of some PC's :eek:

I think it could be a good idea...

Yea its like a motherboard on a motherboard :p

Also read the article a few days back.. I remember my old 466Mhz P2 had a removable CPU slot (Was like an attachment) So I guess you could have slotted in a newer socket if you wanted to... Just to bad AGP4x only went that far

It looks pretty plausible in my opinion. Never imagined it would come to this though. But then again graphics cards are actually (generally, but with exception) the most expensive component of a computer. Why buy a new graphics card because it runs low on memory when you can simply upgrade the memory module? It creates a whole new market. Although in short people will spend say R400 for a memory module instead of R3000 for a better graphics card. But on the other hand more people will opt for upgrading the memory, etc instead of not upgrading at all.
