Hi

I got adsl almost 2 years ago when routers were so expensive a contract was needed, anyways I wanted to upgrade my adsl to 1mbit (from 512k) gave telkom a call and said I would have to go into a telkom center if I wanted to upgrade since I was under contract.

I know that upgrading would break the contract so would cost me my remaining 3 months think its R70-80 per month remaining, anyways.

Has anyone under contract upgraded without having to go into a telkom center, its a real pain was wondering if there a number other than 10219 or a online form to upgrade ?

I agree with PostmanPot, upgrading should not break the contact, if the parties involved agree on your request, and that should not be a problem, a new contract should be signed for the remainder of the time.

I heard way back when 1024 came out that upgrading was classed as breaking the contract, not from a direct telkom by the way, I cant remember where from.

I am not worried about the contract breaking or not, just whether I can get it upgraded without going to a center.

after all I did phone 5 mins before it was time for them to go home....

when i got my contract, i was told that i could upgrade any time.. i don't see how upgrading will effect the contract; Telkom aren't losing out - they're gaining!

You'd think they'd want to make upgrading as simple as possible . .

Try this number - ADSL Support Centre : 0800 375 375

I phoned 10219 again today, spoke to a indian guy I think, upgraded all over the phone, just double checked some details etc...

Within 72 working hours, so thats 2 weeks

They actually made sure on phone heh.

Told me twice how much my line rental would change by

Told me twice what I requested (Upgrade from 512 to 1024)

Told me that my line was ready for 1024

Told me that the 72 hours maximum he said was working hours, in otherwords monday to friday 8am-5pm
