Hi,

I want to upgrade my Graphics Card as my 8800GT is lagging behind on some game graphics and with a constant fan speed of 70-100% to keep the card at 75degrees is really getting to me (way to loud!!)

I personally prefer Nvidia but got no problem to switch over to ATI if you can convince me :)

I want to keep the upgrade price below R2,000 for the GPU. My current setup can be found in my signature, thus any other necessary upgrade tips will also be appreciated, even thou I feel it's not really necessary to upgrade the rest for now :)

Thanks!

ati 4890 dude

There was a 216sp 260 for r1500 somewhere recently...that is also a great performing card. Somewhere between 4870 and 4890

Hmmm will have to check product spec of the Power Supply when I get home...all I know atm is that it was bought in November 2008 :)

Which brand of card would you go for as the pricing differ allot i.e. Asus/ Sapphire/Club 3D etc?

Aint the fact that the card only support DX10.1 and not DX11 make the upgrade now a kinda "bad" decision?

I think you'll have to decide for yourself which factors are most important in the brand of card - price, cooling, overclocking, warranty, image?

r800 is out of some people's range...we'd all rather get a better card but you have to fit it to what someone can afford.

What about a 5770 while we're there though?

luckily for my wallets sake they don't accept credit cards.

Wow they must lose out on so much business because of that.

How stupid. Not many people 3k just lying in their bank accounts.

I can push my budget up to R3,000 but would the rest of the machine be "good" enough to support a higher end card? I would prefer buying a DX11 card which I can atleast use for another 2years or so.

Thanks for all the advise thusfar! I see most here prefer the Radeon cards, hmm will then have to make the switch I think :)

Definitely try your hardest to get the 5850. It will outlast anything else we could recommend for a very long time AND you get DX11.

I saw Dirt2 in DX11 the other day and my word. You really see the difference.
