AGP will limit you somewhat. What are you using at the moment?

agp is old tech but they on the same level in certain ways with pci-e.SOme one has yet to prove that pci-e is better.

The MB is about 2 years old and running 4 Gigs DDR 400 with AMD 2300+.

PCI-E is better simply because there are no new cards that will run with AGP. Your options are quite limited now. I would have recommended 9800GTX or 4850, something on those lines.... But with AGP I guess maybe the 3850 is a good performer.

TBH if you want to play games you'll really need to upgrade the entire PC. You'll be very limited with new games no matter what you get card-wise.

That pricelist will be useless if you cannot buy from them. Even if you did have to get a 3850, that cpu will be one hell of a bottleneck.

+1, but if money is really no problem, get a better psu and a 4870x2.
While the 4870x2 is better, it'll be long before one needs anything more than the 4870. So basically I posted a performance pc that isn't too overboard and crazy.
For a bigger psu the Corsair TX 650 Watt. Would be brilliant.
I know, but you never ask for what to buy if money is no object, because if it really isn't, then only the best of the best will do. I mean, if he can afford the 4870x2, get it, even if he does gaming on a 22".
But I do agree with you and I think most people/everyone does have a budget to follow, in which case the 4870 will be perfect for him.

Well, have read up on the 4870x2 and does look brilliant. But that does mean a whole new PC for me and what Qwikslver posted for a new PC, looks dam good. Will look into more this weekend.
