Hey guys,

Bought a Lenovo 330s ideapad recently but runs super slow!

So, I want to add some RAM and replace the HDD with a SSD.

The big hairy question is "would me upgrading the laptop void the warranty?" AFAIK, as long as I don't completely f&+£ things up, the warranty should be fine?

Keen to hear the experience and wisdom of the brains trust....

I bought a Lenovo Ideapad 300 (i5 with 8GB RAM & 1TB HDD) 3or4 years ago (warranty now expired). About a month ago I bought a 500GB WD Blue SSD and used AOMEI Backupper (free) to create the clone. One of the conditions for this software was that the data used on the source drive was less than the size of the destination SSD. I bought a SATA DVD cradle at Matrix Warehouse (R199) and removed the CD ROM from the laptop and fitted the SSD into that and then into the DVD slot.

The software took about 2 hours to complete the clone.

When the clone was done I installed the SSD in place of the HDD. The original HDD drive is being kept as a backup, for now. After the process Windows was still activated and so was my MS Office.

I'm not sure what effect this would have on your warranty.
