Hiall,

MTN has a deal that gets 2 birds with 1 stone, a tablet and a phone both with data.

I want to upgrade my 100gb+100gb BF deal for this deal,

BUT..

Will my current contract fall away and be taken over by the new deal or will the new one take over in Nov when my current expires?

with MTN upgrade the new contract comes into play the next month and not the end of the 24 months , they in effect cancel the remainder of your contract and start the new contract.
One thing i actually like about MTN on early upgrades the old handset fees fall away and you start the new one, so you score.

If you upgrade 2 months before the completion of the initial contract, your new contract is now 26 month. You could end up loosing. The initial contract could have a device fee of say R100pm. The new contact could have a device fee of R500pm. So you end up paying an extra R800.

Like i said No not on MTN, it's 24 months from the new contract.

I have been a MTN customer for 20 years and never paid a duplicate handset fee or had my contract extended past the new termination date(had phones i canceled or let go to past early upgrade) , so as per below I upgraded on 04 feb -(my at the time termination date would have been 15 May) According to you my Termination date would be like May/june and clearly it's exactly 24 months from the upgrade date (which was 3 months early) so all my early upgrades would add up - and it didn't pay duplicate handset fees in 20 years.
I have a vodacom contract and there you do pay duplicate fees and contract starts at termination i never on that contract unless absolutely necessary upgrade early

Thanks! I've always avoided upgrading early for that reason, that they add on to the term, I think it was Cell C or Vodacom that did it to me.I'll keep in in mind for my next upgrade for sure.

I don't want to give up my BF Deal just yet so I'm going to have to wait out and hope there's a good phone deal in November
