Need to do lost of VMs with that hardware requirement of needing a machine with 32GB RAM.

Is it possible to put that amount of RAM in my 13" Macbook Pro and if so where can I buy the RAM.

No. Depending on what model it is you might be able to put up to 16GB.

I suspect the most you can do is 8Gb+8Gb for 16Gb total.

The maximum supported in a Macbook Pro is 16gb. (2x8gb). At PC International the price is R1049 for an 8gb DIMM.

You can put that much RAM in an iMac, but not in a MBP.

Unofficially, you may be in luck. I don't know what processor you have, so I'll assume a dual core i7. The i3/i5/i7 have the memory controller built into the CPU, and the i7 can handle 32GB of RAM.

All the MacBook Pros I've owned have been able to take more RAM than the Apple sanctioned maximum, so if your willingness to risk a significant amount of money might be rewarded.

I think a bigger challenge will be finding 16GB SO-DIMMs...

Non retina you can upgrade the RAM yourself. Officially Apple only supports 16gb in those but I have done a non retina RAM upgrade to 32gb myself. It does work.

I've done 16GB (2x 8GB) in an early 2011 i5 MBP where the max was listed as 8GB by Apple. Might work, but it will be an expensive lesson if it doesn't.

Depends on your model. If it's the plain Macbook Pro without the Retina and SSD, you should be able to up it to 16GB. If it's a Retina, then you're SOL.

You are out of luck my friend. To my knowledge the RAM is soldered onto the motherboard - or logic-board as Apple likes to call it - the only thing one can upgrade by yourself are the SSD chips - if you have some technical experience.

2x16gb modules. Only place I could get them in a store without too much hassle was Incredible Connection strange enough. They were like R2400 each. Kingston 1333mhz.

Are you sure? R2400 is roughly what 2x8GB DDR3 SODIMMs go for. Kingston doesn't list 16GB modules. Google doesn't know about them either. I've only found one manufacturer that lists 16GB SODIMMs, and you can't buy them anywhere (don't seem to be in production yet).
