Would any of you know if its possible to upgrade the ram on an old Acer Travelmate 2450 , it currently only has 512mb on it . I would like to seriously bump her up to 1024 or even 2gig's .

If it is DDR or DDR2 then yes
DDR is roughly 2x the price of DDR2 which is a sign it is going EOL so don't wait to upgrade.

Don't see any problem with that, expect to pay around R200 for 1GB ram.

Thanks Drake , tell me ? , is it as simple as , removing the back panel unplugging the ram , then re-inserting the new ram and booting up ?

I think it will be a nice upgrade and will make for a good increase in performance. :-)

Ok , got the ram , installed (1 x 2gig) stick but nothing , computer doesnt do anything . Oh well I guess I will have to head back to the pc shop tomorrow with my Acer and let them install it . Its probably not the right RAM .

Check the user manual to be sure that model supports that amount of ram. Many older lappies are limited in terms of the amount of memory they can take.

Managed to upgrade my ram today unfortunately only by 512mb , The chap at the shop said my notebook can only go up to 1gig of ram . Perhaps that is the case , anyway I am "googling" to see if it is the case .
