Hey all

So, I want to upgrade my hdd as the 20gb only lets me install 1 game at a time, and running off hdd is just so much quieter and quicker :)

I've found the WD1200BEVS for like R450ish to do the mod, but then I thought "hmmm... wouldn't 7200rpm and 16mb work so much quicker??" :D

My google search to see if a Scorpio Black works on the 360 yielded no help - has any1 out there tried this? Or should I play it safe and just get the 5400rpm 8mb :(

Yes this is one "hack" I fully support. Too expensive... its a ripoff.

i got a bevs 120 gig sata 2.5 " hdd how i get it to work on my xbox, i got the 20 gig hdd could i somehow "update" "hack" to use the 120 gig would be cheaper than buying a microsoft hdd ...?

interesting ... but can they ban u on LIVE??? not that we have live in south africa

probably depends on the hddss.bin ain't it digitally signed and copyrighted?

would be nice though to have a cheaper upgrade option , a diy 120 gig way cheaper than MS-bought one, can install more games on the hdd...

If I knew where to find a HDD that would work for this and a guide on how to do it, I would do it right now. However, we should not talk about hacking on MyBroadband.

Hacking?

Anyway, you can get the drive from Drive Control Corporation, they are the local Western Digital distributors.

I put this "hack" on the same level as overclocking a processor, it is my hardware, and by doing something not prescribed in the standard operating conditions, its my risk and if it breaks its my loss.

Making the hdd proprietary has actually put the xbox at a severe disadvantage to the PS3, and there is no reason to do so besides greed.

For anybody who may be interested, I successfully put the new Scorpio Black onto my 360 (admittedly with a bit of effort, even though v1.00+ says it supports the BJKT drive, I had to use v0.91).

Haven't had a chance to really use it yet... nor did I time the loading time of a game using the old drive, so i won't be able to compare - but hey, now i have bragging rights about having a 7200rpm 16mb drive in my xbox :) I wonder if there's a queue of chicks outside my door yet :D
