I have a quick upgrade question.

I currently have the HD PVR2 as my main TV device and a DSD1131 as secondary TV device, with XtraView enabled.

If I was to purchase the Explora, would I just be able to

a) replace the PVR 2 without worrying about any additional cables from the dish?
b) replace the DSD1131 with the PVR2 and therefore enable PVR functionality on the secondary device?

Thanks in advance.

a) Yes
b) No, you'll need another cable from either the SmartLNB or multiswitch to the 2P

Just to also add to YingTang's answer. Installing a SmartLNB or using the multiswitch and connecting the Explora and 2P will also give you HD on both TV's.

Do yourself a favor as well. If you have ADSL get the Wifi connector so you can connect it to your Explora and download additional content on the Explora. Works like a charm!

YingYang, I current have two cables into the DSD1131, LNB IN which comes from the LNB and RF IN which comes from the HD PVR RF OUT, will that be sufficient to hook up the PVR 2 to be able to use PVR functionality?

Yeah, I am using Ethernet over power to extend my ADSL to the main TV watching area for use with my Roku, so that's what I plan to do.

No, it has two tuners. Each needs a feed from the LNB. One for watching an one for PVR functionality.

The heartbeat only sends a pulse every 30 seconds to tell the secondary decoder to not go off (if the secondary doesn't receive the heartbeat for 5 minutes, it'll give you an error and you won't be able to watch anything). So as you can see the heartbeat is something completely different

Ah ok thanks.

I checked and I also have a cable which goes straight into the secondary TV RF in, As far as I remember this also comes from the LNB and was done to allow me to watch/control the PVR from the secondary device and watch recorded content.

So I'm assuming I could use the two cables from the LNB to the PVR2 and use the same cable for the heartbeat and I would be able to record on both devices?
