Okay, wtf? I dont understand that.. if im paying hard earned cash for my connection, I can damn well download whatever I want to. How can you people even think of blaming the users? Jeez.

Anyways, so far im on 7.4gb up and down.

Can be construed as abuse, and it's monthly downloaders like this who are making Telkom their capping system...

I don't condone Telkom's measly 3gig cap.
I don't condone their high prices for line rental.
I don't condone their long delivery times for installations.

I also use my connection to it's capacity, but I will not download just for the sake of it...that just makes them clamp down further....very stupid and not to mention selfish

I agree conpletely as Viceroy says.. Though its comments like this that PISS me off! What makes you think that your hard earned money is worth any more than my hard earned money! I pay just like you do. I also want my 3 gigs every month, and more so I would like decent Latency.

BUT now by coming along and abusing the system you are destorying it for all of us, You paid for for 3 gigs, or maybe you paid for 30 gigs.. Once you use more than that its basically theft... But why is telkom not arresting you all.. Well because we are paying through our noses for your your abuse and its the rest of us users that are having to suffer...

Everyone has said the want to get what they pay for.. You pay for a 30 gig account.. You get your 30 gigs.. Downloading/Uploading 178 gigs is ABUSE!, you are not getting what you are paying for you are stealing!. You might be paying way to much, but that does not mean you should steal...

If you go to Mac donalds and you feel they did not give you enough chips with your burger.. The same Chips you have always got mind you, do you sneak through the back and steal more???

If your on 3 gig account.. and you have downloaded 7 so far.. THATS ABUSE!

Now well I've always believe I have a "problem" with the internet and I've been online (not full time) ever since about 1993 with my 9600 bps modem on the old BBS systems, I spend about 11 - 12 hours a day on the net (+/- 4 at work and +7 at home) I download games, I play games, I update my websites, I respond on +7 forums that I'm active in) I update my drivers, Download Linux, etc... Maybe I watch closely because Most of my things are international and I can not afford to be capped.. But I can not understand where people can be downloading 178 gigs and its all Legal.. NO WAY.. I'd like to see a list of what was downloaded! And then to do it everyone month.. Come on people.. be realistic...

You are going against everything MyADSL stands for, to bring the community closer and make it better for all of us. Thats what I see MyADSL as.. Now screwing over your friends who are trying to help us all... How do you see that as fair.. Of course most people here dont give a damn and reply with cocky comments.. So I might as well be talking to a brick wall..

Just to let everyone know

Before telkom started hinting about ending the local cap, I have maybe been capped 2 times before. My max maybe be 4 GB in a month. This was done as trial and a good bye and thankyou for nothing Telkom. So yes i agree it might border as abuse, but my contract did say 3 GB INTERNATIONAL and UNLIMITED LOCAL. I didnt make up that contract, so dont tell me unlimited local = 3gb local

LOL and you wonder why they are capping local??? 4 gigs is not a problem..If I had to do everything I wanted to then sure.. I'd also be using 4 gigs a month, if not more myself. I how ever need international so I cant afford to use my Cap.. All my websites and email accounts are hosted in the USA.

Still though bro.. Do you really think its right ??? All I'm asking is for you to ask yourself that?

There is a HUGE difference between being given a car.. and Hiring a car.. You are hiring that bandwidth from your ISP and Telkom.. If I am hiring the car then I wont drive everywhere because you get charged for it.. Or maybe your company gets charged, dont you care if your company or daddy is paying?, Do you drive the car like and idiot so when the next person gets in the tires burst and they die...

There is more to the world than just Me Me Me..

I understand what u are saying, but you didnt quite hear what I have been saying.
I never used to abuse it. They said it will be taken away, so i wanted to see how much i could download in a month before i get restricted to whatever the idiots at Telkom think we are alowed to have. I saw , I learned, I can tell the tale.
I cant even image doing that every month, there's just not enough to download.
U can only download so many linux iso's

I do understand bro.. Thing is how many other people have been doing it every Month, How many other people have got the same attitude... and decided to screw telkom this month and screwed up everyone. My pings shot up from 280ms to 7k ms over while everyone was bragging about screwing Telkom over on their P2P apps...

Its actually great to know how much we could actually download with our lines, but thats not the point. I had to pay extra this month for nukecap before I could do anything I wanted to do.. Is that fair on me, On anyone else this might of effected?

Everyone says HEY it was local. Now to use your car example again. I wanna drive to cape town.. there is not a single car on the N1 from the Freestate side onwards... But I'm in pretoria and there are 40 roadblocks and traffic is backed up from Lynnwood, to Vereeniging... Does it matter if my car can drive at 512 km/h... I'm never going to get there in time am I?

I think anybody downloading 100+GB of crap just because they can is the same as somebody driving across two lanes of the N1 highway at 10kph because they pay taxes and then blaming the government for not building a 10 lane highway. I do not agree with what Telkom does, but there is no point in acting even worse than Telkom and increasing the misery for everybody else.

have a mate that has downloaded about 180 GB a month on a 3gb telkom account.

he downloads from local sites and FTP,torrents

hows that for impressive.
Will be testing soon with my adsl.


PS. he holds on of the records for most downloaded in 1 month. somewhere in the region of 200GB


Might i add that this has been used as a testing phase for a discussing in dealing with the bandwidth issue around telkoms saga.!!!!
Still waiting for a reply. (more like i gave up long ago waiting)

I have not got my ADSL yet, but I firmly believe that you should be able to download what ever you want. You are paying the big bucks, so shame for other people. Just because you can't find 100GB extra of interesting stuff a month, don't go and blame other people for stealing your bandwidth. I'm only gonna have a measly 3GB cap and I'm gonna do my best to get as much out of it as I can, I don't really care about anyone else...

thats funny, if he downloaded for EVERY SECOND of EVERY DAY at FULL SPEED on Telkoms fastest offering, a 512kbit line, and got the fastest possible connection for every second of that entire month, he would only be able to do 158.2GB, you see it struck me as odd as when iBurst had no cap I downloaded constantly at 1mbit and only managed to do 8GB a day sometimes a little bit more and I think my best was 240GB in a month. So how can a connection half the speed of a 1mbit connection (assuming he had the 512) get 200GB a month?

Downloading stuff you will use is one thing. But downloading crap that you have to delete as soon as it arrives to make sure your hard disk does not fill up, just to "max out" your connection is pretty pointless. But I guess is is easy to be a pr*ck, but harder to act like an adult.
