Hallo guys.
I bought a UPS (generic Sahara, 1kVA) last week. When I plugged it in, the fan on the unit started turning. This was just when it was plugged into the mains. No PC connected yet, and UPS turned off.
Its about the same noise level as my PC's fans, but it is annoying to have this wrrr-ing box, when my PC is turned off. (The room is also our guest bedroom).
Is this normal UPS behavior?
I thought that I could mod the UPS, to use one of those variable speed fans (with the turny nobs). Then just turn it way down when my PC is switched off.
Ideally I would like it to only spin up when the UPS gets hot. Any ideas of how to build something like this. Thermostat connected to a fan?
Thanks
