Need to get a UPS for my shop in Centurion. It should be sufficient if it can keep a P4, 15" LCD, Credit Card Machine, Samsung POS printer and G-PAS GPRS modem going for an hour or so.

Other than power outages I am more concerned about the general quality of the power supplied in Centurion.

Not sure if it is true but I can believe that fluctuating power will lead to data corruption.

Don't need any more problems, TurboCash / POS is allready doing it's own data corruption.

Any ideas - who,what,where,when,how ?

I am registered to buy at Pinnacle, Axis, them indians "& all" just down the road and a few other places.

Hmmmm.
I actually logged in to ask questions on UPS's myself. I have a Powercom BlackKnight 400VA which seems to run my 400W AMD64 system + monitor perfectly. Our house is on 2 separate power grids and often one half of the house shorts and the other doesnt. I had a few reputable motherboards die so got that UPS to help preserve my pc from spikes and sudden failures. Seems to have worked so far. Maybe you should get something a little bigger than the 400VA, like the 600VA for your needs. They are quite cheap. Rather than rely on me tho, get a printout of the specs from the site eg http://www.powercom-usa.com/ProductDetail.asp?ID=4052
- take it to an electrician and ask if it will suffice...

If anyone knowledgeable about electrical stuffs can tell me roughly how many watts the 400va ups can put out, I'd appreciate it. I read the specs but it assumes prior knowledge. Is VA == Watts?

I'd like to upgrade to a 500W/700W system at some stage and want to know if the UPS will still be sufficient.
