I'm looking at getting a small UPS to power my DSL modem during load shedding (all other essentials are already battery powered).

As far as I can tell all of them use C14 sockets for power - which is fine for running PCs but I'm guessing you would need an adapter to plug a standard 2/3 pin plug into it.

Does anyone have any idea where to source these adapters locally?

I just took a standard ups cable, chopped the one end off and wired it into a extension cord plug from a hardware store, works 100%

Thanks, I was wondering about that (I have tons of those C14 to C13 cables lying around).
Sounds like a good idea :)

Just be sure to wrap tape around the plugs, glue them in, or cable tie them down.

You don't want someone unplugging your modem to plug in the vacuum machine. Bye bye UPS.

/true story ;)

I recently did just that, works 100% Just make sure your extension/multiplug does not have surge protection - it apparently messes with the UPS.

Not sure that's true but keep it in mind.

Hahaha, I will NOT be vacuuming while there is no power...can't see how dirty it is in the dark ;)

Thanks for the heads-up though :)

Thanks, I forgot about that (did read it too somewhere)...so I'll be sticking to a standard 2x extension socket :)
