UPS - some advice on the RCT10000

Hi,

My UPS blew up at my office last week. A battery actually exploded and gave me a small heart attack...

My UPS was 3500watt with 16 12v batteries (car battery size) and gave me a good few hours backup time.

The UPS was pretty old and the exploding battery did some damage to the other battries, so i figure its time to replace the whole system. (The UPS itself is pretty old. Batteries were around 2 years)

Rectron has the RCT10000 UPS system, (8000watt). They cant tell me if it comes with batteries, but i assume not. There is an extended battery bank i think i have to buy which is "RCT Extended Battery Bank for 6000GT & 10000GT On-Line UPS - 12V9Ah*12"

So, based on this (12V9Ah, 12 batteries), what sort of backup time will i get? Assume a 3000watt load. I have no idea how to work this out....

Tried as i might, i couldn't find the spec sheet. Much appreciated.
 
IMO, you would be better served with an inverter + batteries.

There are a lot of threads here in MyBB and powerforum.co.za discussing them (they are sold as Axpert 5KVA inverter, PIP-4048ms, RCT5000, etc.)

They are really well built for the price and they have battery charging built in. I wouldn't recommend using the built in solar charger however.
