:sick:Eskom load shedding started this morning 6:00, and my PC just switched off together with everything else while it's connected to a 800VA UPS bought from a bad supplier (read here http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=104772&highlight=unpleasant). I switch off the UPS and switch it on again, with or without load it just won't start on its own, the LED blink for a second and that's it. It's 'working' when there's AC power (but who needs it to work with AC, we need battery backup). What could be the problem here?

I guess faulty battery? But it's quite new......Will change the battery from one of the working UPS (same brand model) to see if it's indeed the battery's problem. Otherwise I don't know where I can pay for 400 bucks for another 800VA UPS at this time of the year. Don't want to waste my time on return it to that stupid store, they did not bother with the first time, don't think I will get any service now.

This UPS is mainly for the switch and wireless router which connected my dad's home office to the internet.

I bought a 350va APC UPS which powers my 460W PC for 15mins, so I find it strange that you should have a problem with a 800va UPS.

It's working fine before, but today it's the first time I noticed the problem of not able to work without AC input in backup mode.

Make sure your battery is recharged fully... if it is then send it back.

The charger section may be faulty - swapping a working battery, running it flat and then charging it will show if the problem is with the ups or the battery. Make sure that the batteries you use are designed for UPS, a normal car battery will pack up.

Will do that. Thanks!

No need to test now, UPS just died completely. Running it with AC and suddently no more output, now won't start with AC.....
