Hello everyone

Yesterday morning Telkom cut off our ADSL, supposedly because we reached a 100GB limit. We have a 2Mb uncapped line and I seriously doubt that we have reached that limit.

But the point is I am stuck without ADSL, I've phoned their customer service line. All they say is that our line will be off for the rest of the month unless we upgrade to a business account. I have no intention of doing that.

I would like to move over to another ISP but I need to do so urgently, I need to get online to to work on some stuff today or I'll be screwed. Today is a public holiday, but I need to know which ISP can have my ADSL up and running ASAP? As in today within a hour or so?

Hopefully someone can help.

Get the 1Gb free Afrihost account. It can be activated from their website.

The work I have to do today involves quite a bit of video streaming, so I'm not sure if 4GB will help. More like a uncapped line.

Then you need a premium uncapped account.

Telkom have stipulated that the threshold for 2mbps basic uncapped is 100GB.

Well you use a free account then sign up for a new uncapped from afrihost. Pay and its activated then and there

And a referral link will get you half off the first month and the prorata

Uncapped = capped at 100GB, why not call it 100Gb capped account?

Explain "cut off".

Do you still have access to the web, albeit very slow?

Is your account payment up to date?

Since yesterday morning I've had absoutly no access to the web from Telkom. I was literally cut off. Only a single page would load, that was a page from Telkom saying the following:

"The bandwidth consumption on your uncapped account has reached a stage whereby it is having a negative impact on the general performance of our network. In terms of the Telkom Internet Acceptable Use Policy, your account will be managed in a manner that allows us to optimise network efficiency for all users."

I haven't noticed any decrease in the overall speed. That being said I haven't tested the speed in the last few weeks.

I'm running off 3G at the moment.

Just In .. no ways will they do that.

Prove is in the pudding ... maybe take another day's holiday and get your facts correct.

Im sorry but this isnt legal.

When you say "cut you off" is it completely dead?

They cant stop an uncapped service of you use too much, yea they can slow you down but not cut it off.

Nice of CrystalWeb to sort Justin out at such short notice. Seems he was between a rock and a hard place over the long weekend.

You could call it marketing or you could call it exceptional customer service.
