Hi there,

Since Sunday afternoon I haven't been able to access my sites. I have a reseller account with a host company in the USA and although the sites are up, I am not getting emails, can't access FTP or cPanel. When I asked them about it they said it has something to do with my connection and/or router blocking port 2082.

A couple things to note:
- I have disabled Windows Firewall temporarily, cleared cache and still no luck.
- I have tried another PC on another connection and provider and it does access
- I also have a site hosted with another company and can access that one fine, which has confused the living daylights out of me because it also goes through port 2082

Please help, extremely urgent.

Local versus International Hosting

I want to know if international hosting is better than local hosting its by far cheaper, why is local hosting such a plus? is it just cause of speed?

There are a variety of reasons why people go for either the one or the other. Each person has to decide what fills their needs better.

There are many questions each person has to answer in order to make the choice. Some are:

1. What is your target market? Local/International
2. Do you own the company or are you part of a group
3. Cost & the funds avail there for
4. Do you want a .com or .co.za, .net........ (yes there are more) - overseas hosts generally are expensive with registering .co.za or tell you outright they can't
5. If your international net is finished or down then you can't access your site if it is international. If you are like me then that does not really matter as i seldom need to access/update my site. This can be a problem accessing your email though.
6. The quality of service you get from the host provider for the money you pay

the list goes on - I am sure there are others that can add to this.

PM the details of your server to r00igev@@r.

Where do I find r00igev@@r? I searched in the member's list and no such luck.

Simply copy/paste as is the "r00igev@@r" into the to field in a PM & type details in the message area.

if the login does not exist then it will not go through.
