Anyone who can help with worthwhile input, please help ASAP !

PC is Acer ET1850 Celeron E3300 Windows 7 Starter , about 1 year old.

PC was fine 'til I d/loaded Connectify for Wi-Fi (i.e. conflict with startup & won't allow PC to boot up now).
Seems to be a fairly common fault, that they obviously don't care about rectifying : http://support.connectify.me/entries/20450307-windows-startup-option
EDIT: doesn't seem to be affecting them on startup, but still the cause of conflicts.
Now seems to have taken over my PC's startup process. Highly annoying, and obviously didn't know about this before.
Btw, I only installed it, but didn't even log on by entering p/wrd., and far as I know, left it disabled.

What I've looked at so far when PC starts-up :
One option given is to press DEL to run startup: part of info. on next screen is (Boot selection popup menu has been selected) ; PRIMARY MASTER HARD DISK ERROR
F1 TO RESUME ; SELECT BOOT DEVICE - however, PC didn't come with a recovery startup disc !! (like in the old days).

2nd option via F12 if I remember correctly ; get into CMOS SETUP UTILITY

I select ADVANCED BIOS FEATURES

What shows up on screen:-

QUICK BOOT [Enabled]
QUIET BOOT [Enabled]

1st BOOT DEVICE [Hard Disk] - note on side: specifies boot sequence from available devices. A device enclosed in parenthesis
has been disabled in the corresponding type

2nd BOOT DEVICE [CD/DVD: (etc)]
3rd BOOT DEVICE [USB: GENERIC COMPAC]
4th BOOT DEVICE [LAN]

Above settings seem OK ?

Then, what seems to be a problem ....

Hard disk drive priority [Press enter] - Hard disk drives : 1st Drive [Not installed] - when I press Enter, only option is ''Not Installed''

Optical disk drive priority [Press enter] = CD/DVD

Removable device priority [Press enter]
1st Drive [USB Generic Compac]
2nd Drive (etc., etc.)

What settings can I change to boot-up successfully, and thereafter delete Connectify, for starters !
I've tried to reset the BIOS settings to default, but that did nothing to resolve.

(Thankfully hadn't loaded Connectify to laptop, so able to post this).

You can try pressing F8 directly after the bios and if you can get to that part at least select the "Last known working configuration". If you can't even get that far or if you can and it still fails you will have to borrow a windows cd and use its startup repair functionality.

Firstly, thanks for the info.

It may not be Connectify [?] - how can a software program do this type of damage, indicated below.
So, an update on things I've tried.

In the interim, had remembered I'd made a Repair disc for Win. 7 when I first bought the PC.
I've tried every trick & option (I can, given my limited knowledge) since the files were loaded, and now also the F8 key when system starting up - took me to a Windows Boot Manager, but there's no ''last known working config.'' option to select from.

One menu I managed to get the PC to land up on which dealt with System Restore, was amazingly greyed-out, and only option given was to EXIT from it.

Also, managed to do a Diagnosis at some stage & the MBR (Master Boot Record) has been found to be corrupt. Spoke to someone who said the HDD will have to be replaced, which effectively means I'll lose all info. on the PC. It is still under (extended) guarantee, but trying to avoid going this route, though I do have a record of everything needed to carry on after that.

Can any of you possibly suggest me trying some or other MBR recovery method ?

Have tried the following, and in point # 2 don't even get the headings mentioned:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4836283_repair-mbr-windows.html
So, tried inputting the commands in X: drive (which apparently is the bootload [?] drive).
Commands like : bootsect /nt60 C:\ ; bootsect /nt60 SYS ; bootsect /nt60 ALL .

I may be closer than I think to resolving this, ...... then again, the PC & me might need a fresh start !?

Boot with your Windows disk in the DVD-ROM, boot from DVD, you should get Windows Startup Repair option.

Safe mode, uninstall the program, restart, safe mode, start > "msconfig" look for anything relating to the program under processes or services and disable it, otherwise get CCleaner and you can remove it by deleting.

Update

Thanks for the added input, guys.

Wish I'd been able to get as far as you all describe - I think the PC was fatally flawed, and I was floored by it all.
I remember - even with my limited knowledge - being able to troubleshoot Win. XP much more easily than Win7. Don't know if you find the same ?

It's now gone in to the retailer, who'll get in contact with the manufacturer tomorrow. They'll try & sort it out via phone, and if so I'll get it back restored, soon.

If not, it will need to go to JHB for further testing, and will then either get a new HDD, or if the retailer deems it too expensive for them (as it's covered by warranty), then I'd get a brand new PC box - at least that's what I was told this morning.
