Hi all. I need to make 30 UTP Cat5e cables or so tomorrow afternoon and I urgently need a UTP cable tester. I am preferably looking for someone in the Southern Suburbs as I live there. Please respond or PM me ASAP.

What type of tester do you need? A full Cat5 certification tester or something simple that only checks the wiring pairs?

How much does one like that cost? Where would one get a tester for HDMI and what the cost of it?

The lowest priced FLUKE cable certifier would be about R100k and a crappier Lantech brand for about R65k.

No idea about HDMI, don't think you will get something to certify it but you should be able to find a simple tester.

Damn those are FFS expensive lol. How much does it cost for one to certify your connection then? I know you get HDMI cable certifiers, but hey I'm not going to buy one any time soon.

Ja, they are not cheap.

Usually when you have new cabling installed by a certified Krone, Lambda etc vendor they test the cabling and the certification is part of that as it is required for warranty purposes. If you get the same guys out to fix a faulty point they supply you with the new certification results after they completed the repair.

Bigger cabling companies that provide vendor warranties have their own testers/certifiers as it's a requirement by the cable vendor for warranty purposes. These testers/certifiers also have to go in for regular calibration certification.

Essentially the certification is included in the installation/repair price.

Please don't even look at fiber optic test & splicing equipment, you will have a heart attack!

Dude, I have one you can borrow if you like, it's very simple but does work.

Basically it has a set of lights and a terminator on one end. Sends a charge down the cable and tests the return.

Easy and simple.

Just got it now. I need a tester or two for tomorrow afternoon until saturday.
