US cancels first big hypersonic missile flight test

The US scrapped a test on Wednesday of what’s meant to be the Army’s first hypersonic missile in its arsenal, a setback as the US looks to catch up with China for a crucial weapon of the future.

“The department planned to conduct a flight test at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida to inform our hypersonic technology development but as a result of pre-flight checks the test did not occur,” the Defense Department said in a statement to Bloomberg News, referring to the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon.

Well, the US just launched one or two short-range nuclear tests just yesterday in order to ready itself. It seems we may see a nuclear strike or two real soon.... The world urgently needs to see who the real big Kahunas are. We will need to know who we will need to follow and support.

US launches unarmed ICBM to test nuclear capabilities amid tensions with North Korea

The U.S. Air Force and Space Force collaborated on a test missile launch Wednesday amid rising tensions with North Korea.

Air Force Global Strike Command test launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

"The purpose of the ICBM test launch program is to validate and verify the safety, security, effectiveness, and readiness of the weapon system," a statement from Vandenberg Space Force Base read.

They feared that their prototype would be a puny little display against the mighty prototypes that have roared across the skies thanks to the mighty and superior North Korea!

"Catch up with China"? That's ridiculous. Pentagon and corporate lackeys, greedy for more money, are keen to propagate the myth that the US is behind - just like the "missile gap" and "bomber gap" myths (lies) during the Cold War. Once Warsaw Pact fell apart and the USSR collapsed in the heap of its own contradictions, it turned out the US was way ahead and the "gap" was a nonsense. Same is true now.

For you, perhaps. But not in this case - there are long versions of these shorts. Alex Hollings is an award-winning military aerospace journalist (and erstwhile USMC soldier) recognised by the leading professional publications, defence departments, military trade journals, and military cognoscenti in Europe, Asia, and Americas. Marshall McCluhan notwithstanding, your view can easily confuse the medium with the message.
