What happens if a candidate who won a state, and drops out ?
There are only two candidates left on the Rep side.

And Huckabee the last one to drop out, won a few states.
What happens to the state ?
Does the Rep nominee for President take over that state, because a previous Rep nominee won it ?

No, because in essence you're not fighting for states. You are fighting for a delegate lead which is awarded proportionately according to your victory margin in each state. With McCain having been declared the Republican Nominee no further contests need to be underaken on the Republican side.

However, the states play a major role when the USA goes to the polls in the National General Election in November.
