At least six people have been shot and killed in Michigan in a series of apparently random attacks.
Three people have also been injured in the attacks, which happened on Saturday night, according to NBC News, which quoted the sheriff's office.
Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said: "We seem to be dealing with a worst-case scenario: someone driving around, finding people and shooting them dead in their tracks."
Mr Matyas said police were first called at around 7.50pm local time to an apartment building in Kalamazoo County where a woman had been shot many times. She was later described as being in a serious condition in hospital.
Hours later officers were called to a Seelye Kia dealership, where two people had been shot dead and a third shot and injured.
