US iTunes account problems

So for the past few months I haven't been able to access my US itunes account... it's as if my password somehow changed without my knowledge.

When I follow the prompts to recover/reset my password it doesn't recognise my Birthday and when I choose the option to send me a mail it never arrives in my inbox. I thought this was due it being my work address but I checked with IT and they don't see anything from iTunes getting bounced from our server.

So now I see myself having 2 options.

1) Phoning apple and trying to sort this out and keeping all my apps (a substantial amount), reason I haven't done this already and one of the reasons for this thread is I am a fat American who lives at a McDonalds according to apple, so if they ask me to verify my ID etc I don't really know that info... anyone phoned them and what questions did they ask?

2) Creating a new account and cutting my losses... possibly on the SA store... they say the games have been added but is it all the games?
