US sees largest protests calling for $15 minimum wage

You know, it's funny how you guys argue over a dying system. When there's only enough jobs to employ 10% of the population, every last aspect of the way we organise ourselves with respect to other people will have to change. There just won't be any room left for private property as we know it today.

It's today's problem. The SJWs are a symptom. Trump is a symptom. The last century's promise of prosperity has been a lie, and until people realise they have been sold a batch of soiled goods, they're going to get more and more vicious as each more drastic attempt to get the foul taste out of their mouths fails.

History is full of warnings as to what happens when an entire generation of young men are left idle with no prospects for improvement.

Sure it's today's problem, but we won't be around anymore by the time it is solved. A wholesale evolution of the system just won't happen in our lifetimes, leaving you with no choice but to deal with the current system for the rest of your life.

Well, if it doesn't evolve in my (expected) lifetime, humanity won't survive to see 2100.

Personally, I don't think any of us really have the luxury of ignoring the problem in the hope that it goes away.

Indeed, sadly it won't and humanity won't. (with a caveat that perhaps we colonize other planets and find more space and resources to sustain things longer, we'll never move toward efficient use of resources until faced with imminent demise)

I see it more as a spiritual enlightenment of sorts once you realize and accept that you cannot change our collective fate. It's not ignoring the problem so much as knowing the problem will not be solved. Then making the conscious choice to go out with a bang rather than a whimper ;)

Collectivism is the problem for me. I don't see a change happening with government and the way it functions anytime soon. So the only way to fix things is individually. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Like you can start bantering with batteries for the energy based system you would like implemented. Who knows maybe if it works people will adopt it and collectively we will be saved.

Not true.


The problem with collectivism in the past has been its inability to recognise the rights and needs of the individual. But individualism of the past has had the exact same inability to recognise the rights and needs of the collective.

We are a social species that constructs a collective that works for the individuals. Unless you create a system which can maintain its collective and individual nature simultaneously, you're going to build an unstable system.

Yeah, but people will still need an orthodoxy in place to organise energy transfers between people and so forth.
