Hi guys, me and my husband bought a baby monitor fron the US, as this is the only one that can vibrate, as I am hard of hearing and need to rely on this type of baby monitor.

I want to know how can I use this product in SA. What type of adaptors do I need etc. i do not understand electricity and all that and really need some proper advice.

The AC adaptor says the following:
Class 2 Transformer
INPUT: 120VAC 60Hz 6.5W
OUTPUT: 6VDC 200mA

I really hope someone could please assist.

Kind Regards

Go to Dischem and ask

EDIT: Sorry, thought you were asking for a US to RSA adapter.
Shouldn't be any power delivery problems.

Yes I am trying to get a US to RSA adaptor.

I am worried because our country is 240W. And america is 120W. So won’t our electricity blow the monitor out?

Just get a 6v power supply with the right plug on it. Your american one won't work.

One small problem those specification state 120Vac while locally we have 220Vac. There is a risk that our power will damage that power supply so it might be saver to buy a similar power supply locally that is compatible with the monitor.

Get a 6v 200ma DC power supply. Make sure you get polarity correct

Any 6VDC power supply will work. The only headache is getting the correct plug on the end of the power supply to power your baby monitor. You might need to ask a local nerd to cut the cables and solder the original baby monitor wires to the new power supply

Otherwise you can go to a local hardware store and buy a step down transformer so that you can plug the baby monitor directly in to the US sockets on the transformer. I think the smallest the transformers come in is 100W and will cost a couple hundred bucks - but this way will work and you won't need to worry about splicing cables together

You need 3? What does the plug look like (the one that goes into the monitor)? Can you post pics? Alternatively, let us know the make & model of the phone so we can look it up for you?

O/T: How old is baby?

Thread necro. I am considering importing some Eneloop batteries and the charger via Amazon but they only have the US plug and the type that hangs off the wall.

Now I know from experience that the el' cheapo ZA adaptors (that are usually thrown in when you buy a US gadget from Geewiz et. al.) are quite loose (don't grip the US plug sufficiently), so this won't work for me.

Specimen A = el' cheapo:

Any suggestions as to which adapters grip like a virgin, or another solution?

P.S. I am not concerned about voltage as I have checked the charger and they support AC 100-240V 50/60Hz. Concern here is the "fit" when plugged into an adapter.

USA have 120v stable appliances , SA 220v .

Plug it in here and *poof* , so make sure your gadget is stable at 220v before giving it any power.

As for adaptors, they found everywhere , Dischem etc.

Since you're ordering from Amazon get one of these and stick a SA plug on the end. I'm sure there are probably cheaper ones so hunt around.

Why? Energizer is available locally...

Yup, had taken voltage into account. Adapters found at Dischem etc. do not grip the US plugs properly either, I have tried one my sister has. This would be an annoyance with heavy direct-to-wall battery chargers.

Wish I had known about that sooner. It is exactly what I want. I scrolled through many pages of adapters but didn't see that. In the end I gave up, closed the order for the flash and decided to make use of the Recyko+ Pro batteries and GP chargers from TakeAlot. I may still order a smart charger from Amazon in future so will definitely pick up one of these adapters.

Capacity. From what I have read, for high-draw applications like flashes, you need high capacity batteries. Locally we can get the Recyko+ Pro but Eneloop seem to have a cult following.

Nothing wrong with the batteries you ended up with. I buy a couple sets of them a year and they last me a good 3-4!years.
