USB 3.0 External HDD or keep my current HDD?

Hi,

I currently have a Samsung G2 Portable External Hard drive (640GB). I bought this hard drive for R985 at my local computer store. I saw a 500GB external HDD USB3.0 Hard drive at game which is far less than what I paid then.

I want to know is it worth getting the 500GB USB 3.0 External Hard drive? I have a Dell XPS L502X and it does have USB 3.0 ports.

What is your main use for the HDD? If you are using it just as a system back-up then I might lean towards no, if you are using it for storing and transferring stuff I might think yes, but then you have to think about whether there is much else out there that is USB 3 compatible (I know it is backwards compatible)

I use my hard drive to mainly store things that I download from the internet.
