Hi all,

Please I need someone that is IT SAVVY to assist me!

I am not that savvy with computers but have been running around in circles trying to connect two monitors in extended display to my laptop (Asus Sonicmaster - AMD Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.30 GHz).

I bought a USB-C to HDMI x 2 connector which I THOUGHT was the answer and nothing comes up on the Monitors?! After some research, I then find out that the USB-C must be DP Alt compliant which is ridiculous as there is ALWAYS something extra or another issue with computers hardware compliance - can never keep up.

I really don't want to purchase another laptop just to use 2 monitors, is there any other way to make this work?

eg.
1. USB to 2 x HDMI
2. Upgrade USB-C to DP Alt compliant

My laptop has 1 x HDMI, 1 x USB-C, 3 x USB-B

Thank You!

Maybe what you bought is faulty or rubbish, try buy something like this. https://www.gizzu.co.za/uncategorized/gizzu-gizzu-4k-type-c-to-hdmi-adapter-hi

I recommend you take your laptop to a Matrix Warehouse and ask them if you can test it before you buy it, I assume you only need 1 as your other monitor will just use use straight HDMI from the laptop.

HDMI is a stupid standard..... you need an active adapter for it to work though plenty of people will sell you useless passive adapters.

Can't find any model info with the detail you provided - but I wouldn't bet your laptop has alt mode unless it specifies it
Also i'd be pretty surprised if your laptop has any USB-B - that's a squarish printer style port

Get a Universal dock (Anything using Displaylink) if it's a big issue and your laptop doesn't have Alt mode support - it sacrifices some CPU power for extra displays
