Hi there.
I'm sitting with a problem please?
I plugged in my usb flasdrive, or my mp3 flash stick, and then XP tells me it detects this device and blah blah....but I can't seem to find my drive letter.
There is just no drive letter under "my computer". Only C and D drive letters there.
I uninstalled USB MASS DRIVER, and as well as PCI BUS, redetected everythinh, tells me new device, MP3 or my flash disk, BUT NO DRIVE LETTER
I'm using XP SP2. Please help?
Thanx

start > run > diskmgmt.msc
look for the flash drive at the bottom somewhere, right click on it -> change drive letter and paths
if its not there than its something else

yeah it seems that each time you plug in a different flash drive you have to reassign a new drive letter, so try 'free' up some letters by shifting mapped network drives and cd/dvd drives to more obscure choices like x and y etc. The problem is caused by XP mapping it to the next letter not used by a harddrive or optical drive, even if it is being used by a network drive, so try create a decent gap there.. it gets problematic if the person starts using several external drives at the same time

I had the exact sam e prodlem with my dell laptop

Only way I got it working was to install the microsoft usb flash drive manager >> google for it.

now I just have to open the program to get stuff on/off the flash drive.
At least it works
