I am looking for a USB IR receiver dongle I can purchase locally, but can't seem to find anything. It needs to work with OpenELEC on a Raspberry Pi Rev B. Bonus points if it's compatible with a third-party remote, but I'm willing to buy a remote/receiver combo too.

I have no problem with a little bit of DIY (it's my job, after all); it's just a matter of style. My pi is in a case and I would like to keep it looking low-key. :D

I am sure you could make it look better than a usb solution. Otherwise most media centre remote solutions work fine. Like a compro k200/k300

Thanks for the links! Will see what I can get. In the mean time, I'm stuck with Yatse.

Just some feedback: I went with the Rii remote I originally posted. Couldn't use the VISA100 code, as I have already used that for something else. I am very satisfied with the purchase. I previously used Yatse to control OpenELEC from my phone, but this is way better and more convenient. The keypad feels very solid and most of the media keys work without any configuration.

I don't find the lack of backlight to be a problem, because of the controller-like grip: the keys are exactly where I expect them to be. Although, I am used to typing on qwerty keyboards in the dark without a backlight, so maybe it's just me.
