Hello,

I need an adaptor to turn the analog mic output of my headset into USB.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

You get adaptors but a usb headset may be a more practical solution.

Any reason for doing this?

The laptop mic sucks and it's needed. The mentioned Sennheisers are great, and were used with a Griffin iMic before, but it seems to have stopped working.

The changes to Google local search means it's not as easy to see what's locally available, so please also indicate where your recommendation can be purchased.

1) It still answers your question. Anyway, he's helping me out by finding it for me.

2) Second part wasn't a response; should have posted that part separately.

You're making him start your threads? Was that in his job description?

Yes it has a mic. So, the point of this exercise is to turn the analog mic output into USB, since the laptop only has one audio output.

:wtf:

Yup - Although upon some reflection, it's probably cheaper and more reliable to not add another audio interface into the mix. So perhaps this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Startech-com-3-5mm-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B004SP0WAQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1434661295&sr=1-1&keywords=4+Pin+to+2x+3+Pin+3.5mm+Headset+Splitter+Adapter+M%2FF+M-F

Or maybe......a clone account?

Could be. Perhaps I am just lonely and talking to myself.

Maybe I'm Eks, even.

Here is one from techstop

Yes I know techstop bad bla bla bla, but ive looked on every local site and havent found one.

Its not like you spending thousands.

I'm 100% sure it's not...

It occurred to me in the course of the thread that USB is not necessary, it was just my first port of call given that was being used previously.

Are you saying that a speaker out port supports a mic as well?

It appears to be the case, from what I can gather. In the same manner as cellphones.

*edit*

As in, it's not just a speaker out, it's actually a speaker out, and a mic input in one jack - You just need an adaptor (look at the image, there's a reason the jack has 4 divisions, not three).

Wouldnt post #15 be better?
