Hey guys,

My friend phoned me today and asked me to help him by starting this thread.

According to him, he installed windows XP correctly, installed all relevant drivers for his motherboard, graphic card etc, but now he is having this problem where if he plugs something in his USB ports, his pc doesnt pick it up.

Apparently the USB ports appear both in Device manager and the BIOS, but Windows just won't pick up anything he plugs in.

Another problem he's having is that whenever he shutsdown his pc, after about 5secs after its turned off, it turns on again... LOL :D

Any suggestions or solutions for him plz...
Thanx

The thing where as the power is back on again is a BIOS issue. Try playing with the ACPI settings in the BIOS, and adjust the Power States (S1 and S3) and see whats happening.

The thing with the USB could be that it is USB 2.0 devices. Try installing the latest Windows XP updates, including SP2. Also do a BIOS update and see if thats working.

Good luck
