usb or network

ok so i want to copy a large amount of data what would be quicker, 500gb worth fo stuff..

setting up my pc and copying across a 100mb/s network
or plugging in a external hd and copying across usb???

If you get full 100mb throughput you will get about 10MBps
USB2.0 has a transfer rate of 480Mbps though you will get no where near that as you will then hit the limit of the external HDD.

When I copy stuff from my usb stick I get around 15MBps.

If its on HDD the best would be to install the drive as a slave and copy from HDD to HDD.

Otherwise use either and just let it copy overnight
