Hi Guys

I plugged a Telkom ADSL USB Pots into a particular PC (XP Pro SP3), and instead of the familiar and friendly "Ding-Dong", I am met with an angry "Duh-Duh-Duh" (three quick sounds).

No error message and no icon showing up in the task bar.

Other devices (Flash drives, Speakers and Printer) works fine from USB.

I plugged the Telkom ADSL USB Pots into two other PC's, and it installs as expected.

I have never heard those particular sounds before - I'm stumped.

The Motherboard is an ECS Elitegroup G31T-M7 (Six USB ports).

I would appreciate it if someone can just point me in the right direction.

It could be that for whatever obscure reason, the router and your pc just don't like each other. I had the same problem once trying to get my cell phone to work over usb with our old family pc. It just wouldn't work.

If the router works without the need to install drivers on the other pc's, then to me it narrows it down to USB related issues, though what it is I can't say.

Have a look at the Windows device manager and see if the High speed USB ports are OK. If they are showing yellow then a driver is missing.

Hi Michelle

Hope that you not in Cape Town. Apparently in CT according to Telkom techs USB modem/routers here seems to give a lot of problems. That was about two years ago. Don't know if they sort out that issue.

Thank you for all the responses - we shall attribute this one to the digital gods being in a bad mood.
I think that Asha'man X has a point.
