I used to be able to use this to access the Internet when connecting my HTC WildFire to my PC. Now when I do this, on the PC (under network adapters), it says "Identifying..." and after a few seconds it gives the "Network cable unplugged" error. On the phone it says "Unable to turn on" when I try to tick USB Tethering. This has been happening since the phone got upgraded to FroYo. This wouldn't be a carrier problem, would it?

I don't know if the drivers are used for tethering but try installing and reinstalling.

Drivers are loaded. This only happened after the upgrade to FroYo. Resorted to using PDAnet :(

Have you tried uninstalling and installing the latest HTC Sync?
